A 20-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the alleged rape of an eight-year-old boy in Ongwediva.
The Namibian Police Force's Crime Investigations Coordinator for Oshana, Deputy Commissioner Frederick Ndjadila, said that the incident occurred in February but was only reported to the police by the boy's father on Tuesday.
“The suspect, who is school-going, allegedly went to the boy's room, slapped him on the cheek, and then undressed before raping him,” he said.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Oshakati Magistrate’s Court this week on a charge of rape.
Police investigations into the matter are ongoing.
