The Swapo Party's extraordinary congress, set to take place this weekend, will elect a new party president following the death of Dr. Hage Geingob in February last year.
However, there is a concern about the position of Vice President, which will be left vacant.
Swapo Party Vice President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah is set to be elected as the new party president, with prior endorsement from the party's central committee, in line with its constitution.
However, Dr. Kudumo touched on the issue of the vice president position, which may remain vacant after this congress.
Kudumo notes that the party has the responsibility to clarify provisions and resolutions as per its constitution.
He stresses that a unified stance on key issues is crucial for the party, as divergent views can lead to internal conflicts and undermine cohesion.
Dr. Kudumo also addressed mixed views on Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah's presidency, highlighting its historical significance as the election of a female president.
He highlighted that, given the social and economic challenges the country is facing, the president-elect will need strong support, particularly from her party, to effectively navigate these issues.
Dr. Kudumo, while elaborating on the importance of practicing constitutionalism, stressed the need for a united political party to effectively address lingering developmental issues and improve service delivery.
