The International University of Management (IUM) opened a N$45 million campus at Eenhana in the Ohangwena Region.
IUM Founder and Council's Chairperson David Namwandi commended those who stood firm by IUM from its humble beginnings and during its stages of development, such as former President Hifikepunye Pohamba.
"IUM has received support and encouragement from people of good will all over Namibia and beyond, but what we received from Pohamba was unique and vital; he remains a true friend of this university. We shall continue to pray and give him heavenly favour today, tomorrow, and forever."
As Namibia's first private university, IUM was founded in 1994 to shape a future where everyone can reach their full potential.
This is IUM's fifth campus, with others in Windhoek, Swakopmund, Nkurenkuru, and Ongwediva.
Professor Namwandi said the institution is determined to make education accessible and affordable for all.
Currently, the Eenhana Campus has enrolled 1,321 students who have already started receiving their classes at the beginning of the year.
The campus will serve as a catalyst for economic growth, collaborating with the government to bring education closer to the citizens' doorsteps.
"We are here to affirm to the people of Ohangwena that this campus is designed not merely to meet those expectations but to execute them through our programmes, including agriculture, research, and community service," said Professor Osmund Mwandemele, IUM Vice Chancellor.
Ohangwena Governor Sebastian Ndeitunga commended IUM's founder for taking education closer to the people of the region and looks forward to seeing it become a powerhouse of excellence and innovation.
"I am proud to stand before you today as we gather to celebrate this historic moment of the special inauguration of a top-class university, one that stands as a pillar of excellence, excellence in diversity, and providing limitless opportunities in our region."
