President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah says the late struggle icon Kanana Hishoono's life was guided by values of unity, resilience and service, to his nation and the Swapo Party.
A family memorial service for veteran of the Namibian liberation struggle and Swapo stalwart, Mathias Kanana Hishoono, was held at his homestead at Onambutu village in the Eenhana Constituency of the Ohangwena Region.
Ohangwena Governor Kadiva Hamutumwa, flanked by regional leaders, visited the homestead of the late war veteran Kanana Hishoono in Onambutu Village to console his bereaved family.
Mourners are flocking to the homestead of the late Swapo stalwart and freedom fighter Kanana Hishoono at Onambutu village in the Eenhana Constituency, Ohangwena Region, to console the bereaved family and pay their last respects.
Hishoono died at age 89 on 14 January.
President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah described the late Kanana Hishoono as the bravest, most selfless person and a veteran of the liberation struggle.
She said Hishoono contributed immensely to consolidating the gains of independence and democracy, serving in various capacities.
Struggle stalwart, educator, and midwife Aino Nangula Tulimevava Nanghonda was buried at Onamukulo Cemetery in the Ohangwena Region, leaving behind a legacy of service and sacrifice.
Nanghonda died on 18 December at Oshakati Intermediate Hospital at the age of 83.
