President Nangolo Mbumba, accompanied by President-elect Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, inspected the preparations underway at the Independence Stadium ahead of Friday's inauguration and 35th Independence Day celebrations.

The Independence Stadium, with its 25,000-seat capacity, will be the centre of attention once again as the country prepares to witness a historic transfer of power as the first woman president is sworn in.

However, the public seldom appreciates the meticulous and elaborate preparations undertaken for this very special day in the lives of all Namibians – a day to celebrate nationhood.

Today, the outgoing Commander in Chief, Mbumba and President-elect Nandi-Ndaitwah took time off for a first-hand experience and inspection of the preparation at the Independence Stadium.

Tents to shelter the attendees from the rain showers predicted for the entire week have been erected so far.

The preparatory committee promises an around-the-clock effort in ensuring that other logistical coordinations are considered to the letter, leaving no room for mishaps.

President Mbumba's quick visit to the Independence Stadium was also ticked off the list of items cleared from the Presidential desk at the State House.

The security cluster has confirmed heightened security arrangements, ensuring that Namibians in their numbers celebrate the day without any incidences of what Independence Day has come to be known for.
