
President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah says elected leaders have the responsibility to ensure that they consolidate democracy, peace, stability, and good governance in the country as well as expedite the delivery of quality public services to all Namibians.
The nbc News team spoke to some of the newly appointed ministers and deputy ministers to share their plans and vision on how they plan to carry out their duties and deliver quality service for all Namibians.
Jenelly Matundu, Deputy Minister of International Relations and Trade, acknowledged the rapidly changing global geopolitical landscape and expressed her determination to ensure Namibia is respected on the international stage.
"Given this opportunity to serve again in this ministry, I will perform my duties to the best of my ability to make sure Namibia is respected globally," she said.
Sanet Steenkamp, Minister of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sport, Arts, and Culture, emphasised the importance of understanding the mandates of her ministry and collaborating with key stakeholders.
"It is absolutely important to have an understanding of the mandates of these ministries. We have a lot of expertise, and it will require careful planning and skilful initiatives to meet key deliverables," she noted.
Indileni Daniel, Minister of Environment & Tourism, stressed the need for sustainable environmental practices to boost tourism and the economy. "For us to survive in this beautiful country, we first have to take care of it. A sustainable environment is crucial for tourism and economic growth," she stated.
Veikko Nekundi, Minister of Works and Transport, outlined his priorities, including operationalising key airports and constructing rural roads to connect villages. "I will ensure that the responsibilities outlined by the president, such as road construction and airport operations, are successfully carried out," he said.
Dr. Charles Mubita, Deputy Minister of Defence and Veterans Affairs, pledged to protect Namibia’s territorial integrity and its citizens. "Together with the minister and staff, I will ensure that the territorial integrity of Namibia is protected and defended," he affirmed.
Festus Mbandeka, Attorney General, prioritised improving service delivery for the Namibian people. "My focus is to prioritise key areas to ensure that the president is well served and that we improve service delivery for the Namibian people," he said.
Fillemon Wise Emmanuel, Minister of Justice & Labour Relations, highlighted his commitment to legislative stability and harmonious industrial relations. "I will strive for legislative stability and proactive identification of legislative gaps to ensure effective governance," he concluded.
