Cold, wet and windy weather conditions are expected for the southern parts of the country this week. 

Weather forecaster Albertina Anderson said a slow-moving low-pressure weather system has made landfall in the south. 

"Heavy thunderstorms and rain are expected in various locations across the south. Today, the eastern regions are at risk of flooding, so please take the necessary precautions, especially in those areas prone to floods in southern Namibia," said Anderson. 

She urged the public to be aware that the coastal areas in the south can anticipate heavy downpours today. These will be accompanied by strong winds, resulting in a combination of various weather conditions: windy, wet, and cold. 

Rain is also forecasted in other parts of the country. "There is a possibility of rain showers over the central coast, extending towards the central regions, with thunder showers and rainfall expected. We experienced some drops this morning, and our weather maps indicate lightning in several areas of the south and along the south-west. Additionally, in the north, particularly in the western extremes and north-west, there is a chance of light showers."

The weather service anticipates low temperatures for this week, with another cold front expected to make landfall on Tuesday.
