The new government under President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has hit the ground running and has shown its intention through the budget tabled in the National Assembly by the newly appointed Minister of Finance, Erica Shafuda.

The sport vote in the Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sport, Arts and Culture was allocated N$1.3 billion for the 2025/26 financial year.

The N1.3 billion allocated to sport includes N$200 million for the construction of Category 2 stadiums nationwide, N$200 million for the development of basic sport infrastructure, and N$50 million to support sport leagues.

With Namibian national teams playing their international home games outside the country due to stadiums that are not fit for international games, this investment aims not only to address these challenges but also to strengthen the sport sector as a key driver of national development.

Last year, sport was allocated N$679.4 million.
