The AUSC Region 5 hosted a press conference marking the 100-day countdown to the eagerly awaited regional games.
The event was held at the Namibia Rugby Union head office, located at Hage Geingob Stadium.
As of now, 13 sports codes have been confirmed, with officials from their respective federations present at the conference.
These sports include team games such as soccer, netball, basketball, and volleyball, as well as individual disciplines like athletics and para-athletics.
A total of 10 countries are expected to take part in the games.
The Executive Director Mbumba Haitengela expressed his pride in being involved with the event, emphasizing the importance of the games for the region's development.
Dr. Ndeulipula Hamutumwa, the chairperson of the local organising committee and President of the Namibia National Olympic Committee (NNOC), provided updates on the ongoing preparations for the games.
"It is our priority to ensure everything runs smoothly, from organization to security," he said.
The University of Namibia campus has been designated as the athletes' village due to its capacity to house participants, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the event.
The games will be held in two towns, primarily in Khomas and Swakopmund.
The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) has been working since July to prepare a comprehensive plan for the event.
The influx of athletes and teams is expected to significantly boost the local economy, benefiting various sectors.
While the final list of sports codes is still being confirmed, excitement surrounding the event continues to grow.
