In Premier League Rugby action, defending champions Wanderers beat UNAM 46-24.
In the much-anticipated rematch of last year's Premier League final, Wanderers welcomed UNAM to Wanderers Sports Grounds.
Right from the start, it was the students who took the initiative, with center Suramie Kambombo scoring the opening try.
The defending champions, Wanderers, however, responded quickly with a try from scrum-half Jaques Theron.
Wanderers then added a penalty conversion to their tally, before UNAM provided yet another lesson, this time showcasing some football skills, which led to their second try.
On the opposite end, Wanderers also displayed some impressive skills as outside center Danie van der Merwe intercepted a UNAM pass in center field, helping to end the first half with the score: Wanderers 17, UNAM 14.
In the second half, it was UNAM who struck first, with a try set up by a no-look pass from the hosts, which proved to be costly.
The boys in white then fought back with two consecutive tries before UNAM added their final points through a penalty kick from fly-half AJ Zaahl, sending the ball through the uprights.
However, the defending champions still had one more try in them, with Adriaan Booysen crossing over for their sixth try.
To finish the match, former UNAM player and current Wanderers full-back Johny Mwenyo added the final three points, bringing the score to Wanderers 46, UNAM 24.
