The Prime Minister's office has classified the gruesome killing of six family members at Usakos as an emergency that needs the government's assistance.

Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare visited the family members who lost their loved ones in a tragic incident at Usakos.

It is alleged that a 17-year-old relative murdered the six family members in cold blood and set their bodies alight around 7 o'clock on Saturday.

Dr. Ngurare consoled the bereaved family at the house where the brutal murders took place in the Hakhaseb residential area.

He was accompanied by Works and Transport Minister Veikko Nekundi, Erongo Governor Neville Andre, and Police Inspector General Joseph Shikongo.

"Her Excellency the President has sent me to convey her most profound and deepest condolences for the loss, the unspeakable loss that you have suffered in this family. When there are moments of sorrow, we become one, so we have come to share these tears with you. We are one family today in sorrow, as we ask God to comfort us and to console us."

Ngurare indicated that the President has tasked the Office of the Prime Minister to assist the family in their needs.

"We are also to see in terms of assessment what sort of assistance we can provide under this difficult cloud of sorrow, we, the Office of the Prime Minister, because this is a disaster; it's an emergency. We have also made some preliminary assessments of support which we will provide, but that is just an assessment, preliminary, and the family can assist us to be able to say what it is we can do."

"We feel strong when we see the new people and the faces. This makes us glad; we also saw the head of the police. We only see them on television, but now we see them face to face. So we are glad. But there's nothing we can do because God has it all. And the accused is also our family, so we hand it over to God. But we are glad that you came to address us."

Ngurare also addressed community members who were gathered outside the house to provide moral support to the family.

"So now we must stand together; when these things happen, we must also, as a community of Usakos, stand together for our kids so that we can see what we can do to avoid these types of incidents from happening again."
