The Governor of ||Kharas Region, Aletha Frederick, has reiterated her office's commitment to promoting transparency, accountability, and open communication for all the region's inhabitants.

She expressed these sentiments in response to a petition submitted by the Blouwes Community group, which voiced grievances against the Blouwes Traditional Authority.

The group demanded answers regarding concerns, among others, the alleged misappropriation of funds intended for community development and illegal land allocation in the communal area.

They called on the Anti-Corruption Commission to launch an investigation into the alleged misappropriation of the Hompa/Onani funds that are reportedly paid to the traditional authority.

Additionally, they urged the Ministry of Urban and Rural Development to suspend the monthly allowances of traditional councillors, dissolve the traditional council, and investigate illegal land allocations.

"I don't have any interest in any differences that might occur in the region, whether it's in the traditional authority or in the government institutions. I am here to intervene, and I am here to make sure we reach a consensus on our differences. So at the end of the day, development can take place."

The governor denounced claims that she remained silent on the grievances.

At the governor's invitation, the Blouwes Traditional Authority attended the media conference to respond to allegations raised in the petition.

In response, the traditional authority accused Dawid Gertze, whom it claims is driven by an obsession to become a leader of the traditional authority, of orchestrating the petition.

"He failed. Now, he is frustrated and expects all law-abiding citizens and organs of the Swapo-led government to succumb to his somewhat extortionist approach. Mr. Gertze and his gang are welcome to form their own political party, which will enable them to enact laws that will satisfy their desires."

The traditional authority also dismissed allegations of the misappropriation of funds and emphasized that only the Gaob of the traditional authority holds the power, in accordance with the Traditional Authorities Act, to appoint or remove traditional councillors.

In response, Gertze denounced the allegations against him as fictional.

"This is a very unfortunate time in which people are trying to play politics in favor of defaming and dehumanizing others. I am not part of that. I am a leader of substance, as I have already said, and I always let my integrity carry me wherever I say something or wherever I am."
