Residents of Otjipaheua in the Otjozondjupa Region of Tsumkwe have called for a mobile police station to be brought to Otjipaheua.
Speaking to NBC News, Kaatapo Njavera said the community needs police presence at Otjipaheua for their safety.
"This country got its independence for everyone, not for one person."
Ovaherero Traditional Authority, Ombara Hans Kandji, echoed the same sentiments, adding that police officers can also attend to other social issues affecting the community such as mental health crises, substance abuse, homelessness, and domestic disputes,
There are over 80 households with about 200 people resettled at Otjipaheua.
They are the descendants of the Ovaherero people who fled Namibia to Botswana during the Nama and Ovaherero Genocide and returned to Namibia two years ago.
