High Court Judge Anne-Doris Hans-Kaumbi will deliver her sentence to Michael Amushelelo at 12:30 today.
Earlier this morning, Hans-Kaumbi heard arguments in mitigation.
The lawyer representing Police Chief Joseph Shikongo, Nambili Mhata, argued that Amushelelo, as a first-time offender, should receive a fine or a suspended sentence since the contempt charge does not equate to ordinary criminal activities.
In his mitigation statement, Amushelelo mentioned that he is the father of a nine-year-old daughter, is currently unemployed, and relies on "good people who assist him" for his livelihood.
He expressed remorse for his actions and stated that he did not understand the appropriate language to use in court on Monday. He added that he had approached the court with the mindset of an activist.
Amushelelo also informed the court that he lives alone on the outskirts of Windhoek, where he cares for two two-month-old puppies and his elderly parents. He expressed concern about the complex situations his actions have created for those he loves and pledged to reconsider his way of life.
He requested a fine of N$300 and asked that the 48 hours he has already spent in custody be taken into account.
Amushelelo's contempt case against Lieutenant General Joseph Shikongo is scheduled for tomorrow.
