Otjozondjupa Region recorded four accidents over the Easter holiday.
On Thursday, two people died in an accident north of Otjiwarongo involving four trucks, of which three belong to Coleman Transportation en route to B2 Gold Namibia Mine.
The trucks contained sodium cyanide chemicals that spilt on the ground, but it has since been cleaned up.
On the same day, a driver of a minibus with 21 occupants lost control of the vehicle and overturned while he was attempting to overtake a truck about 50 kilometres north of Okahandja. Passengers sustained minor injuries.
In another accident, but also in the same radius, an occupant in a Ford Ranger was seriously injured when the vehicle he was travelling in was bumped by another from behind.
On Saturday, a Polo with four occupants and a Toyota Hilux carrying six passengers were involved in an accident between Grootfontein and Tsumeb.
The accident happened when the pickup truck tried to overtake without noticing that the Polo was turning, resulting in the Hilux hitting the Polo before it overturned, causing serious injuries to the passengers.
In other crimes, a 25-year-old man was arrested for possession of eight units of crack cocaine with a street value of N$800 at Otjiwarongo.
At the Hochfeld settlement, on Friday, a 28-year-old man was apprehended at Farm Uitkoms for allegedly threatening to kill his ex-girlfriend's boyfriend with a knife.
The suspect has been charged with assault, intent to do grievous bodily harm and assault through threatening. He is expected to appear in Hochfeld Periodic Court this week.
