The Speaker of the National Assembly has alerted lawmakers that corruption impacts negatively on investor confidence, economic growth and development, infrastructure development and healthcare.
Saara Kuugongwela-Amadhila said this during the budget motivation for the Anti-Corruption Commission.
The ACC has been allocated N$116.5 million for the 2025/2026 financial year, which is an increase of about 10% compared to the 2024-25 fiscal year.
Motivating the budget, Kuugongelwa-Amadhila said it remains crucial to improve the budget allocation of the Anti-Corruption Commission to enable it to perform its entrusted responsibilities and mandate.
Dr. Kuugongelwa-Amadhila noted that of the total amount, N$103.5 million will fund operational activities, while N$13 million is set aside for developmental projects.
N$5.3 million is allocated to the Office of the Director-General; N$46.7 million will cover staff remuneration, utility services for five regional offices, office rentals and infrastructure development.
The Investigations Division is allocated N$41.2 million, while the Public Education and Corruption Prevention Division receives N$17.8 million.
Security and Risk Management Services will receive N$4.3 million, and the Performance Improvement Division is allocated over N$1 million for operational and monitoring activities.
