The First Gentleman, Epaphras Ndaitwah, paid a visit to Ella Du Plessis Secondary School to address the learners about the importance of education and to remind them of the crucial role they play as the future leaders of the country.
Ndaitwah reminded the learners of how privileged they are to have an inclusive education system compared to colonial times when the youth then had to join the liberation struggle to fight against the oppressors.
He urged them to work hard and dedicate their time to taking steps towards reaching their goals and aspirations to become something in life.
Ndaitwah told the learners not to take their education for granted and to make full use of the resources provided to them by the government.
He reminded them of the president's announcement regarding free education for all Namibians from primary to tertiary levels, which sparked excitement among the learners.
The principal of the school, Jakavaza Kavari, says he is filled with joy, as he can sense that the school's spirit has been rejuvenated as a result of the first gentleman's visit.
The principal says they wish to establish a smart partnership with the First Gentleman's office to see how they can further improve the school's infrastructure.
The First Gentleman was graced with performances by the school choir and cultural group, including a small gift as a token of appreciation.
