The Namibian Revolutionary Transport and Manufacturing Union (NARETU) has stepped in to pay 70% of their monthly salary to the striking employees of Pretorius Plant Hire.

The eight employees have been on a 'no work, no pay' strike for 43 days since March.

The union's intervention aims to ensure that the striking workers and their families are not left financially vulnerable during the dispute.

Ten employees initially joined the strike; however, two have since returned to work.

The employees are demanding a 10% salary increase, a transport allowance raise, and the implementation of medical aid.

The striking employees include truck drivers, bulldozer operators, and drivers' assistants.
