Servicewomen at the Jonas Shoongeleni Ndeimana Barracks of Otjiwarongo's Military Base donated food and clothing items to children with malnutrition at the Otjiwarongo State Hospital.
While celebrating Mother's Day, women from the Namibian Defence Force came together to reflect on their role in society and how to best give back to the community.
Social workers identified children from vulnerable households admitted to the Otjiwarongo State Hospital due to malnutrition, making them beneficiaries of the goodwill.
The hospital recorded a high number of malnutrition cases, with 17 children currently admitted.
Some children who had already been discharged were traced and invited back to receive their parcels.
The food parcels included smooth peanut butter and powdered milk, as recommended by health officials.
In the spirit of Mother's Day, mothers also received clothing items, school bags, and shoes for their school-going children.
