The Organisation for the Empowerment of Widows/Widowers and Orphans of HIV/AIDS in Namibia (OEWONA) handed over bedding, toys, and clothing, among other things, to orphans and vulnerable members of society in the Omusati, Ohangwena, and Kavango West regions.
The items were solicited by OEWONA's Patron, Former First Lady Penehupifo Pohamba.
OEWONA was established in 2005 to support, protect and promote the well-being of people infected and affected by HIV/AIDS.
"Since its establishment, OEWONA has initiated various programmes targeting HIV/AIDS-infected and -affected widows, widowers, orphans and other vulnerable members of society by providing care to those infected and affected, maternal shelters for expecting mothers, wheelchairs and dry rations for the elderly and other amenities for people with disabilities in all the regions of our country, Namibia," said Pohamba.
The governors of the regions and the Chief Executive Officer of Nkurenkuru Town Council received the donations on behalf of the beneficiaries.
