The Namibia Revenue Agency (NamRA) Commissioner, Sam Shivute, has affirmed that the agency is committed to its mandate of enabling the state to deliver on its developmental objectives.

Shivute, who made the call at the National Assembly Induction Session underway in Swakopmund, has therefore called for sustained support for NamRA and its operations by Parliament.

"Then we move N$52 billion, and this year I am seeing 2024/25 is N$88 billion; the gross amount was N$98.9 billion because N$10.4 billion we have to refund. The growth is 67%; that is what has made many African countries say, No, we need to study what is happening in Namibia.' That is what has made IV universities in the US say, Let's send our people there for leadership, and the second group from Columbia is coming next month."

Although NamRA is still in its early stages, Shivute emphasised that revenue collection has significantly improved due to the agency's targeted interventions.

He noted that several tax categories had also recorded a favourable increase last year.

Commissioner Shivute underscored that tax contributions from agriculture and fishing sectors remain low.

The Parliamentarians engaged the NamRA team on several issues, pledging their support going forward.
