Namibian Police in the Otjozondjupa Region have uncovered a dagga plantation and factory on a private farm located between Osire Refugee Settlement and Hochfeld.
Speaking at the active crime scene, which has now been cordoned off by the Police Drug Unit, Commissioner Philip Hidengwa said the discovery was made by Okahandja Police.
This follows the stopping and searching of a car transporting about 52 bags containing dagga on the Hochfeld-Okahandja road at 01:00.
Interrogations of the vehicle driver led the police to the farm plantation and factory, where the suspects are harvesting and packaging the drug in large sachets destined for unknown markets.
The plantation, measuring 1.55 hectares, is hidden among large crop fields, while the drying process takes place in a five-room corrugated structure.
The product is then taken to the farm storeroom, where it is weighed and packaged.
At this stage, Hidengwa could not reveal how many suspects are involved but said a farm manager and driver have since been taken into custody.
The value of the dagga product and the project has not yet been determined.
The arrested persons are to appear before the Okahandja Magistrate's Court on Friday.
