The Fishrot accused have made another attempt to challenge the decision by corrections authorities to transfer them to a public space within the Windhoek Correctional Facility, where they would be housed with the general population. They approached the Windhoek High Court for this purpose.

In the latest court documents filed by James Hatuikulipi and five others, they claim that the corrections authorities are aware of the threats they face from inmates in the general population area.

Hatuikulipi states that hundreds of inmates are taunting the Fishrot suspects, accusing them of "eating their fish" and "stealing their money." He also reports that some inmates have threatened to harm them.

Before their transfer to the Echo unit, the group spent nearly five years in the C-Section, where authorities claimed they were kept for their safety due to their prominence.

Hatuikulipi asserts that "Fishrot" has become a household name, leading to a video documentary that labels him as "The Mastermind."

In court papers, Hatuikulipi names a senior corrections officer, Commissioner Ankur Kuthria, accusing him of unlawfully ordering a search of the accused's laptops. He alleges that Kuthria reacted poorly to protests from the accused and threatened to transfer some of them out of the C-Section and into the unit with the general population.

The group has previously failed in attempts to have the corrections authorities' decision overturned by the courts. Hatuikulipi is joined

in this case by Mike Nghipunya, Otneel Shuudifonya, Pius Mwatelulo, and Sakeus Shanghala.
