The MTC Kilimanjaro Boxing Club hosted its first boxing coaching clinic at Iipumbu Secondary School, aimed at sharpening the skills of boxers, promoters, and officials in understanding boxing rules.
Boxers, promoters, and officials gathered at Iipumbu Secondary School in Oshakati for a much-needed boxing coaching clinic, designed to enhance their understanding of amateur and professional boxing rules and regulations.
One of the clinic's main objectives is to provide individuals, groups, and aspiring boxers with a platform to gain knowledge, receive support, and obtain guidance as they pursue a boxing career.
NBC Sport attended the coaching clinic and spoke to Joseph Benhard, promoter of the MTC Kilimanjaro Boxing Club, who shared his thoughts on the importance of such clinics while acknowledging the support of experienced boxing professionals.
Meanwhile, at the same event, boxing mentor Karen Shikongo discussed the mental preparation and well-being of boxers before and after fights.
Additionally, Vice Judge Referee Angel Simasiku commended the management of MTC Kilimanjaro for organizing the clinic, emphasizing that the region's boxing community should utilize existing local expertise instead of relying on outside assistance.
Following the success of this clinic, promoter Joseph Benhard hopes to extend these training sessions to other regions in the North, ensuring broader access to quality boxing education
