The Swapo Party and the country's President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, has praised the late clergyman, Stefanus Tiboth, for his unwavering commitment to the party and the broader community.

Tiboth died three weeks ago in Keetmanshoop at the age of 80.

President Nandi-Ndaitwah praised late Dean Emeritus Stefanus Tiboth as a staunch, loyal party member during a memorial service Swapo Party members held in Berseba Village in honor of the late anti-apartheid icon.

The Swapo Party regional coordinator for ||Kharas Region, Mathew Mumbala, delivered the head of state's tribute.

"The late comrade was not only a long-serving leader of the Evangelical Church in the Republic of Namibia, but he was also a steadfast, loyal comrade of the Swapo Party where he served the party as the former regional coordinator of the Hardap Region. A task he carried out with great discipline and with a heart for servanthood."

Former ||Kharas governor and Swapo Party member Dawid Boois remembered Late Tiboth as a social justice advocate during the apartheid era.

Late Emeritus Dean Tiboth was a long-serving clergyman of the Evangelical Church in the Republic of Namibia since his ordination as pastor in 1974.

As an anti-apartheid icon, Tiboth was also part of the 'crossroad meeting,' which was held in Gibeon in 1976, and at which Nama leaders, among others, the late former Prime Minister Hendrik Witbooi and the late former ||Kharas governor Stephanus Goliath, resolved that the Nama people would join the Swapo Party.

Late Tiboth was also one of the founding members of the Berseba Ecumenical Private School in Berseba.

Late Tiboth will be buried on Saturday at Berseba.
