The Ministry of Health and Social Services has received equipment worth N$28 million from the United States to strengthen healthcare delivery countrywide.

The donated items include computers, laptops, printers, servers, network equipment, televisions, UPS systems, air conditioners, and furniture.

The items were handed over by Chargé d'Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Namibia, Brandon Hudspeth.

"Today, the United States government is not just handing over IT equipment. Yes, there is about N$28 million worth of IT equipment on these tables that will help power Namibia's health infrastructure.  And that is worth celebrating," said Hudspeth, adding that "today, we are marking a strategic investment.  An investment that will continue to strengthen Namibia's public health infrastructure by improving the delivery of care across this vast country.  That is an investment in Namibia's future."

Executive Director of Health and Social Services, Penda Ithindi, said the equipment will play a key role in improving operations at various health facilities and administrative offices nationwide.

"Allow me to express our deepest appreciation to our valued partner, the US government, who made this possible. Your support also reflects the spirit of collaboration that is central to the achievement of our national health goals and the Sustainable Development Goals. As we receive these items today, we must also commit ourselves to their responsible use, regular maintenance and integration into our service delivery framework. Equipment alone cannot deliver services; it is our people, guided by policy and empowered by tools, who will transform our vision into reality."
