The Ministry of Health and Social Services (MoHSS) awarded scholarships to 52 undergraduate students to pursue careers in the health profession.

The ministry revealed that 120 applications for scholarships were received from students interested in pursuing a career in the health profession.

A pre-selection committee reviewed the applications and selected 52 students.

The Minister of Health and Social Services, Dr. Esperance Luvindao, reiterated the Ministry's commitment to invest in the future of the Namibian child.

She urged the beneficiaries to be dedicated to their studies.

"This scholarship is an investment by the Namibian government in your future. And this is not meant to scare you. This is not meant to put you on edge. It is meant to instil a sense of responsibility in every single one of you. For those of you who are representing family members, we would hope that you would convey this message to them. One of the things I always emphasise is that when you study, you should prioritise your studies as if they are all you have in this world."

The Health Minister revealed that the Ministry has thus far released the call for the applications for 2026, with the due date the 30th of November 2025.

Luvindao, to this end, has urged all eligible youth to apply for the scholarship opportunity.

The beneficiaries are expected to provide their semester reports and proof of registration every year so that due processes can be undertaken.

"Over the next three years, we intend to realise 450 graduates in various fields ranging from dental therapy, medical engineering, dental technicians, optometry, audiology, speech and language therapy, medical physicists, and clinical technologists, to mention but a few. The importance of it is understanding how the world is changing. The importance they are of understanding is how our skills must speak to where the world is going. out
