A multinational firm, Mitrelli Group, known for delivering large-scale, sustainable infrastructure and development projects across Africa, is looking to expand its footprint into Namibia, with a particular focus on the energy sector.

Its founder and president, Haim Taib, expressed strong interest in collaborating with the Namibian government to help address key development challenges.

Mitrelli operates across sectors, including water and agriculture, energy, education, healthcare, and technology.

Speaking on the sidelines of the recent US-Africa Business Summit, Taib cited the facilitation of the transmission of energy from Angola to the DRC by Mitrelli.

Taib noted that the group hopes to explore similar regional energy projects in Namibia, working alongside the government to identify local needs and share expertise in sustainable infrastructure development.

"We know the challenge in Namibia, and of course, we are open to talking to the minister of energy and the government to talk about private investments, maybe integrating together with the government to benefit the population and bring more energy to Namibia."

He further emphasised the importance of collaboration among African nations and the private sector to achieve sustainable development goals and address common challenges.

"Here we need the private sector, we need the governments, and we need the financial institutions together. If we miss the government, it's not going to work; if we miss the private investor, it's not going to work, and also, we need financial entities to allocate money, so it's not easy, but again, we have the experience, and we know how to do it. So I always say when investing in a startup, you look first at who the owner is in order to create the technology and succeed, then you invest in the person."

Taib also highlighted the strategic significance of the Lobito corridor, describing it as more than just a logistic route but rather a catalyst for broad-based social and economic development across Angola, the DRC, and Zambia.
