The newly appointed governor of the ||Kharas Region, Dawid Gertze, has vowed to foster inclusive and accessible leadership.
He made the remarks at the welcoming ceremony hosted by Swapo Party members in the region.
Gertze assumed office on Monday following his recent appointment by President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah as governor of the ||Kharas Region.
"I want you to engage me so that we work. I invite you to join me so that we can work both on the side of the Swapo Party and in the government structures where we belong. Comrades, I don't have words; thank you very much for welcoming me. And I am also welcoming you to where I am."
Governor Gertze furthermore urged fellow Swapo Party members to mobilise eligible voters to ensure the party reclaims lost electoral ground in the upcoming Regional Councils and Local Authorities polls.
"Get your hands dirty to bring about success for this party, and hard work will only get meaning when we are victorious in the coming regional and local elections. Then, I will tell you congratulations for your hard work. We have a responsibility as the cadres of this party to reclaim this region. Because that is the challenge we are facing: that people are opting not to implement such a noble and very directive manifesto of this party."
The new governor, furthermore, vowed to make youth empowerment his top priority, announcing plans to set up a youth desk in his office to support and uplift young people.
Swapo Party Coordinator for ||Kharas, Mathew Mumbala, pledged a good working relationship between the governor's office and the party's regional leadership.
"I would like once again to congratulate you and thank you for the commitment you have for the young people of this region, especially for introducing a youth desk in your office."
