A coalition of political forces, led by the United Socialist Party of Venezuela, secured sweeping wins in the just-concluded municipal elections in that country.

Sunday's elections in Venezuela saw an overwhelming victory for the Great Patriotic Pole, a coalition also supporting President Nicolas Maduro.

So far, with some results still pending official confirmation, the Chavismo movement secured victory in 285 of the 335 mayoral races, including 23 of the 24 state capitals, losing only in San Carlos, the capital of Cojedes state.

This triumph marks Chavismo’s biggest historic victory in municipal elections, surpassing the 2021 results, when it won in 212 municipalities.

National voter turnout stood at around 44%, a figure consistent with previous municipal elections.

While celebrating the results, President Nicolás Maduro dedicated the victory to the late Venezuelan President, Hugo Chávez, the historic leader of the Bolivarian Revolution, who would have turned 71 on Monday, 28 July.

With these elections, Venezuela's constitutional electoral cycle is now complete, following President Maduro’s re-election on 28 July 2024, and the elections for the National Assembly, governors, and legislative councils on 25 May 2025.
