Nedbank Namibia officially launched the fifth edition of its annual Citi Dash . The much-anticipated event is set to take place on the 5th and 6th of September at a brand-new location - the Vegkop Stadium at Windhoek High School.
The Citi Dash has become one of Namibia's premier running events, hosted previously at the Nedbank Campus in Windhoek's city centre. Nedbank Chief Commercial Officer JG van Graan said the race aims to offer a world-class running experience that can rival the best on the African continent.
In a bid to encourage health and fitness among young people, a new Schools Challenge has been introduced this year. The top three schools with the highest number of top finishers will receive cash prizes of N$10,000, N$7,500, and N$5,000 respectively.
Race organiser Frank Bombosch highlighted the event's growing popularity. Over 3,000 participants have taken part in previous editions, and this year they expect the number to exceed 5,000.
The action kicks off on the 6th of September with a new race category, while the main events take place on the 7th. The Citi Dash features an elite 10km race, alongside popular 5km and 10km fun run categories.
The elite race is set to attract 500 top runners nationwide, with qualifying times set at 55 minutes for men and 60 minutes for women.
Entry fees are N$350 for elite runners and N$250 for fun run participants. Group entries are available for schools and companies, with registration closing on the 24th of August.
