Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety, and Security Minister Lucia Iipumbu launched Operation Lucia, named after her, in Oshakati, Oshana Region.
The first-ever, two-day operation is a targeted, intelligence-driven initiative aimed at curbing prevalent criminal activity within Oshana and its neighbouring regions.
The operation’s objectives include crime intelligence collection, intensified visibility patrols, mobile roadblocks, seizures and flash checks, community engagement, and the swift apprehension of offenders.
Iipumbu, who joined the Oshana police at the Oshiko roadblock, said they are there this weekend to root out all forces of crime, rebuild confidence between the nation and the police, and promote the shared responsibility of ensuring that Namibia is a safer place for all citizens and visitors alike.
