The National Unity Democratic Organisation (NUDO) has announced reconciliation among previously divided party factions.
NUDO's Vice President and party leaders emphasised unity, healing, and a commitment to moving forward together.
Key highlights at a recent media conference include a court settlement agreement that allows current leadership to remain in place until a legitimate Congress can elect new leadership.
The party leadership stressed that internal conflicts have ended, and members should now focus on upcoming regional and local authority elections.
Party Vice President Peter Kazongominja declared that NUDO will participate in the upcoming Regional Councils and Local Authorities elections as a unified political party, rejecting any cooperation with external movements.
"In this party, there is space for everyone who wants to build and not break, to unite and not divide; unity means respecting our differences while working on common goals."
The reunification comes after a year of internal strife, with prominent members like Barry Rukoro returning to the party fold after jumping ship and going into alliance with Swanu.
"I want to thank those who followed me when these problems started, but I also want to tell them that we are back. Do like me; when I am out, I am out; when I am in, I am in," said Rukoro.
The leadership said it will welcome the return of other members, including its former Secretary General Joseph Kauandenge, who founded an independent party to participate in the upcoming elections.
NUDO emphasised that "politics is about numbers", and therefore its doors remain open for reconciliation.
