The Chairperson of the San Community Garden Project at Maranata Plot in the Epukiro Constituency, Paul Chapman, is pleading for water provision to help the garden achieve its desired result.

Chapman said the borehole will help the community improve their yields and, eventually, their livelihoods.

The community has taken it upon itself to set up a project a few kilometres outside Epukiro Post 3 for food security and income from a surplus.

He said the community has shown commitment and dedication to the project, but they still need water.

"The problem here is the water; water is very weak, and sometimes we get water for only forty dollars. That's the same water we use at home and in the garden, but it is not suitable for all purposes. Our plan is to install a borehole nearby."

The idea is to expand the project and bring young people on board.

Piniel Pakarae, the councillor, praised the community's initiative to develop the garden project for self-sustainability.

Pakarae promised the community that through the constituency office, they will work around the clock to ensure that the project has abundant water to flourish.

Training and mentoring programmes will also be extended for the project.

"I believe that if we get enough water here, or water tankers, we might move this one to cater for the households and have an additional one for the project only."

Omaheke Governor, Pijoo Nganate, applauded the residents for thinking ahead and helping themselves.
