The police have recorded six murders and culpable homicide cases, two attempted murder cases, and one assault case over the weekend.

The statistics are contained in the police weekend crime report.

In Omuramba, a 24-year-old woman died on Friday after she was struck on the head with a stone by her boyfriend during an argument at Otjozongombe village. The 38-year-old suspect was arrested.

In Karasburg, 37-year-old Harry Matjena died on Saturday after being stabbed in the chest with an unknown object during a quarrel over alcohol at the Westerkim location. A 41-year-old suspect has been arrested.

In Katutura, a 40-year-old man died on Saturday after being struck by a truck while crossing Hans-Dietrich Genscher Street at around 01h40. The driver fled the scene. Meanwhile, another truck also ran over the body and left the scene. 

Police arrested a suspect in connection with the first truck, while the second driver has not yet been traced. The case is being investigated as culpable homicide, driving under the influence of alcohol and defeating the course of justice.

In Okahandja, a man was stabbed on the right side of the chest on Saturday in the Herero location. The victim is in critical but stable condition at Okahandja State Hospital, and a suspect was arrested.

In Oshakati, a 29-year-old man was stabbed in the left eye near a service station on Saturday. The victim is in critical condition. A 40-year-old suspect was arrested, and the knife was seized.

In Ogongo, a 59-year-old man allegedly shot his 58-year-old wife with a bow and arrow in the right upper arm on Friday. The suspect was arrested.

Police also opened six inquest cases. In Wanaheda, a five-day-old baby died after a shack caught fire on Friday. The cause of the fire is unknown.

In Etanga, a 15-year-old drowned on Friday after she fell into a pond while trying to prevent goats from falling in at Okanjose village.
