The Orutumbo Farmers Association has successfully held an agricultural show aimed at creating a link between farmers and various stakeholders at Okotjituuo Village in the Okakarara Constituency.
Speaking at the event, its board member, Jackson Kazetjikuria, said the revival of the Orutumbo agricultural show, which had been dormant for 15 years, will help push for improved regional food security, as the area has the potential to feed the nation.
"This event provides a platform for farmers to create linkages with various stakeholders in both the agricultural and private sectors, government development partners and farmers. It also offers a platform to promote agricultural entrepreneurship, marketing, exhibiting livestock and crop exhibitions, as well as showcasing new technologies, opportunities and skills."
Kazetjikuria added that the union will continue to work hard and help improve markets.
Otjozondjupa Governor, John ||Khamuseb, on his part, said, "It is a clarion call to our farmers to diversify our farming activities. Although we are traditional livestock farmers, there is an opportunity that we must diversify and also look into horticulture production."
Stakeholders in the agricultural sector and exhibitors competing in various categories attended the show.
