Ohangwena Regional Council Chairperson, Erickson Ndawanifa, has called for unity among regional councillors, emphasising that collective effort is key to improving the lives of all inhabitants in the region.
Speaking during the official opening of the Regional Council Reflection Workshop, Ndawanifa said the Council must remain focused on collaboration and shared responsibility to ensure sustainable development and continued service delivery as it nears the end of its current term.
Ndawanifa further highlighted the achievements of the 6th Council, noting that it has made significant progress in passing and implementing resolutions aimed at uplifting livelihoods and promoting sustainable development.
As the Regional Council Elections draw closer, the workshop provided councillors with an opportunity to reflect on their journey since December 2020, review resolutions passed, and assess the progress of implemented projects.
The platform also served to chart a strategic direction for the incoming council by identifying lessons learnt, areas for improvement, and development priorities for the next term.
Ndawanifa expressed his appreciation for the outgoing councillors for their consistent commitment and service to their constituencies.
He acknowledged that while the outgoing council faced numerous challenges, it also recorded meaningful progress in governance and regional development.
The 6th Regional Council passed over 300 resolutions, most of which have been successfully implemented. The Ohangwena Regional Council comprises 12 councillors, with half not standing for re-election in the upcoming polls.
Also speaking at the same event, Ohangwena Regional Governor Kadiva Hamutumwa encouraged regional councillors to forge ahead in addressing the pressing needs of their communities, emphasising that leadership should remain people-centred and development-oriented.
