The opening day of the two-day Under 15 National Team trials successfully got underway, bringing together both girls and boys from all 14 regions of Namibia.

boys took to the field at Windhoek Technical High School to showcase their skills, while the girls displayed their tactical abilities at the Julinho Sports Arena.

Both venues hosted players from across the country, competing for a place in the U15 National Team.

With the organizing committee split between the two venues to ensure smooth operations, we spoke to the Chairman of the Khomas School Sports Union (KSSR), Therens Ndisiro, who highlighted the significance of Day 1 of this prestigious competition.

Therens Ndisiro: "The first day was really fantastic, but we started a little bit late due to unforeseen circumstances. However, all things are going accordingly."

The trials aim to select a squad that will represent Namibia at the Confederation of African Football (CAF) U15 Championship, scheduled for December in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Excited players expressed their joy at being part of such a major football opportunity.

Oshili Haufiku: "I'm very much excited because we traveled all the way from the North just to come to Windhoek to participate in this competition. On my end, I feel so happy because I've had too many opportunities to travel for sports, and my parents disagreed with it, so this is my first time. I'm on cloud nine."

Joe Engelbrecht: "I'm very excited. I see this as an opportunity to take my football career forward."

Hanie Gomachas: "I'm very excited to take part because there is a lot of competition with a lot of people from all these regions. I'm very grateful to be here because I saw other players that I've never seen in my life."

Chrisbravo Phillips: "I'm very excited because it's my first time stepping in this region."

As the event concludes tomorrow, the public is encouraged to come out in large numbers and support the future football stars of the nation.
