The Mayor of Windhoek, Ndeshihafela Larandja, has said the Kapana Festival is not only a celebration of food but also an entrepreneurial spirit.
She said this as the City of Windhoek hosted the festival in the CBD under the theme 'One City, One Sizzle – Together'.
Larandja noted that the Windhoek City Council is proud to support initiatives such as the Kapana Festival because they align with its development vision, which is connected, inclusive and economically vibrant.
She stated that festival events promote local enterprise, create short-term employment and enhance the city's attractiveness as a destination for both locals and visitors.
"The Windhoek Kapana Festival also reflects our commitment to economic empowerment, especially at the grassroots level. By providing a platform for our vendors to showcase their talents, we are fostering pride in local business and encouraging creativity in the informal economy."
The City of Windhoek, she added, is committed to building spaces and opportunities where people can connect, thrive and celebrate their identity.
"Together let us keep this fire burning – the fire of creativity, entrepreneurship and community pride. May this sizzle continue, and may the spirit of togetherness continue to live on in our great city."
