The Municipality of Walvis Bay has donated four erven to the Sunshine Child and Family Care Centre to help expand services for children and youth with disabilities.
For nearly three decades, the Sunshine Child and Family Centre has provided essential services such as education, therapy, vocational training, and psychosocial support to children and youth with disabilities.
The centre continues to face financial constraints and lacks adequate infrastructure, such as classrooms and other facilities.
Walvis Bay Municipality is among the latest donors to support the centre, donating four plots in Meersig for the establishment of a new, improved facility.
At the groundbreaking ceremony, stakeholders commended the centre for empowering children and youth with disabilities and urged more sponsors to support the school.
Giving their testimonies, the parents of children at Sunshine highlighted the vital role the centre plays in their lives, saying that without it, many families and their children would have remained hopeless and excluded.
