The |Khomas Regional Council has launched a series of health initiatives across various constituencies to bring essential services closer to the people. 

Residents of the Moses ||Garoëb constituency were the beneficiaries of these vital health services over the weekend.

The Regional Council's comprehensive approach combines an HIV prevention campaign with other critical health services. 

This initiative underscores the council's commitment to combating public health challenges through education, awareness, and prevention strategies.

President Mbumba urges Namibians to embrace compassion this Easter weekend

Namibians have been encouraged to recommit to the values of compassion, sacrifice, and care for one another as they collectively build a peaceful, safe, and prosperous Namibian house.

President Nangolo Mbumba extended these words of encouragement in a statement, on the occasion of the Easter weekend.

He urged the citizens to steer clear of any conduct that is hurtful, drive safely, and show respect towards law enforcement officers.

The  law enforcement agencies have also been called upon to redouble their efforts to ensure a crime-free weekend.

Residents of Suncity in Rundu face water crisis

Residents of the Suncity location at Rundu have been without running water for months. 

They have now resorted to collecting water from the supply lines found above the ground. 

Residents say they have been without water since October last year, while others have never had running water since their taps were installed. 

This has left the community with no choice but to get water from any other pipe.

Farm Skoonheid community blames government for poor living standard

A group of marginalised communities residing at Farm Skoonheid in the Omaheke Region blame the government for failing to develop the area and improve their living standards.

This includes the right to own farming land, the late supply of food support, and the lack of any health facilities.

They said this during a meeting with the Office of the Ombudsman at the farm.

Skoonheid resettlement farm chairperson Alfons Jors stated that the biggest challenge facing the community is their status as illegal occupants.

Rundu community library becomes a source of information for many

Joakim Fransisku, the acting librarian at the Rundu Community Library, says the facility caters to more users than it can accommodate.

Joakim Fransisku says between 100 and 150 locals make use of the community library on an average day.

It's a typical weekday, and the Rundu Community Library is a hive of activity.

Users range from primary school learners, teenagers here to do homework, and young adults doing research or applying for online jobs.

Bakgalagadi community discusses succession plan

The Bakgalagadi community met in the Aminuis Constituency to, among other things, discuss the succession plan following the death of their Chief Tidimalo Ditshabue about three years ago.

It was agreed that a list of possible candidates be compiled and that an election date be set before the end of August.

According to Senior Traditional Councillor Norman Baumakwe of the Bakgalagadi community, this is the second meeting held after the death of Chief Tidimalo Ditshabue.

Irregularities at Karasburg Town Council concerns community

The Karasburg community also raised its concerns with the minister regarding the alleged irregularities at the Town Council.

These include the dormancy of the Council's Built Together Housing Programme, irregular appointments, and water and electricity issues.

The community reiterated the complaints it lodged with the minister.

Minister Uutoni explained that replacements in any local authority under administration cannot be done overnight, as many would expect.

He denied having given preferential treatment to some community members.

Swakopmund businesses affected by beggars & homeless people

The business community of Swakopmund is unhappy with beggars and homeless people in the town, saying they are harassing tourists and scaring away potential investors.

Residents addressed a safety interaction meeting at Swakopmund.

Also speaking at the occasion was the town's mayor, Dina Namubes, who says she is aware of the various challenges faced by the community and the factors leading to them.

Farming community in Epukiro speaks out against escalating stock theft incidents

Since the beginning of the year farming communities in the Epukiro Constituency have lost more than 170 livestock to thieves.

Speaking at Omaueuozonjanda in the Epukiro Constituency CASO Vice Chairperson Kahepako Kakujaha says it is time to strengthen the security level in the constituency to curb stock theft.
