Namibia is open to learning from Qatar's experience in the development of the oil and gas sectors.
Today, President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah held talks with Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, the Qatari Minister of State for Energy Affairs, at State House.

"You know that Namibia and Qatar have good relations, and we collaborate a lot on international issues. I remember when I was Minister of Environment, we had good contact with your Minister of Environment, and we were even trying to establish an Association of Desert Countries to help each other with food security, and I think our Minister of Environment may still take that up. But now we have energy, and your country has experience in this field, and for us, we are just coming in, and we really want to tap into your experience on how best this new discovery of oil and gas can develop the people of Namibia."
In response, Al-Kaabi said, "As you know, we have big investments we are making in Namibia; we have five blocks, two with Total, and we have one block with Shell, and we have entered into two other blocks with Chevron. We are, I believe, by far the largest contributor to the exploration as a single company. So in addition to being the minister, I am also the CEO of Qatar Energy, and the way we manage the oil and gas sector is a little bit unorthodox in comparison to other countries, and with all these investments, we have made up to 3 billion dollars."
