A second group of 66 applicants has successfully obtained funding from the National Youth Development Fund (NYDF).

The Ministry of Finance, together with Development Finance Institutions, announced that the successful applicants will receive a combined total of more than N$37 million to establish youth-led projects across Namibia.

Finance Ministry spokesperson Wilson Shikoto says the funding will support the creation of 404 jobs in sectors such as agriculture, renewable energy, horticulture, sustainable tourism, waste management, agroprocessing, green transport, and value-added services.

The approved projects cover every region and include enterprises such as poultry production, livestock rearing, crop farming, biomass processing, aquaponics, innovative technology services, recycling operations, and renewable energy installations.

Loan amounts range between N$88,000 and N$1 million.

Shikoto explains that all assessments and approvals were completed through Agribank and the Environmental Investment Fund.

A new call for applications is now open to keep the fund active and accessible to young people.

Applications will continue to be submitted through the governors’ offices.

The Finance Ministry will keep announcing successful applicants from more than 11,000 submissions received during the pilot phase.

Shikoto encourages young people to visit their governors’ offices during the first week of December to confirm the status of their applications.

The Finance Ministry also advises those not selected to seek guidance from their regional offices for future submissions.

Shikoto says the N$257 million-strong Youth Development Fund remains committed to expanding opportunities for young Namibians and strengthening job creation across the country.
