President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah says Namibians have once again demonstrated their commitment to democracy, praising the peaceful and orderly conduct of the Regional Councils and Local Authorities Elections.
She said that throughout the campaign period, voting day, counting and the final announcement of the results, Namibians chose “patience and peace”.
Nandi-Ndaitwah congratulated all elected regional and local authority leaders, reminding them that they carry significant responsibility as they join the 8th Administration.
However, she cautioned, “The nation will evaluate all of us according to the work we do and the results we deliver. I call on you to serve with humility, integrity, and a clear commitment to improving the lives of those who have placed their trust in you."
She reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to fully implementing the Sixth National Development Plan as a roadmap for economic recovery and that development is a shared responsibility.
The President also commended the Electoral Commission of Namibia and the security cluster for their professional conduct, applauding the security sector’s calm and coordinated role in ensuring a peaceful voting environment.
She further recognised the media, saying, “I also acknowledge the media for the important role they played in keeping the nation informed throughout this period. By ensuring that accurate and timely information reached the public, they demonstrated once again the essential responsibility they carry as the fourth estate in supporting our democracy.’’
Nandi-Ndaitwah issued the statement as the final batch of election results was released on Saturday.
