The Swapo Party National Leader assigned to ||Kharas, Charles Mubita, has urged the elected political office bearers to deliver quality service to the electorate.
Dr Mubita made the call during the party's ||Kharas regional executive committee special meeting at Keetmanshoop.
He reminded the elected political office bearers to continuously engage the electorate, irrespective of their political affiliation, and deliver on the promises made during the campaign.
"You were elected on the party ticket, not on the government ticket. Don't get into that government office and then turn your back on the party. The same way we elected you to put you there, the same way we nominated you, and the same way we advanced you to be our candidate would be the same way we will easily withdraw you. That power lies in the hands of the district executive."
Moreover, Dr Mubita emphasised that only the party Secretary General's office is mandated to negotiate any coalition agreement in the hung local authorities.
"If there is anybody out there, whether it is an association or political party that wishes to work with Swapo, they know who to approach. And that is the Secretary General of the Swapo Party, who is entrusted to administer this organisation," he stressed.
Mubita thanked party members and sympathisers for their support for the party in the polls.
The party has scooped all 7 regional constituency seats and ended in a tie for seats in both the Karasburg and Keetmanshoop Town Councils with the Landless People's Movement (LPM).
Swapo Party and LPM each secured 3 seats while Independent Patriot for Change (IPC) won 1 seat.
The Swapo Party Coordinator for ||Kharas, Mathew Mumbala, reminded party members that elections were the beginning of renewed commitment.
"The true measure of our success will be seen in the roads we build, the schools we strengthen, the clinics we improve, and the opportunities we create for our youth. Together, let us move forward with unity, discipline, and dedication to the ideals of the Swapo party. The people have given us their mandate; now we must deliver."
