A vehicle caught fire just a few meters from the Otjiwarongo roadblock earlier today.

According to information gathered by the NBC crew en route to a sports assignment, the vehicle burst into flames while in motion. The driver managed to escape the rapidly spreading fire and was not injured.

Motor Vehicle Accident Fund (MVA) officials were among the first responders at the scene and offered assistance but were unable to contain the blaze.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.

Motorists are urged to exercise caution when travelling on major routes and to report any emergencies immediately.
