The Otjozondjupa Police Commander, Philip Hidengwa, commended the residents of Otjiwarongo for their good behaviour on New Year's Eve.

The Otjiwarongo New Year crossover patrol started before midnight.

The first drive was to DRC through Orwetoveni, where the roads were seemingly quiet. Some residents were either indoors or at church.

Recreational facilities also closed by midnight as per the regulations.

"We hope that the positive behaviour we have started will continue throughout the entire year. We really want to express our gratitude to the residents for adhering; we didn't receive any complaints at all, so we urge the public members to continue behaving like responsible citizens."

A group of youngsters outside their homes shared their excitement for making it into the new year.
