The Governor of the Hardap Region, Riaan McNab, has called for unity, compassion, and collective efforts towards socio-economic growth.

McNab made the call in his New Year's message, in which he extended his wishes for a joyful and prosperous New Year to the region's inhabitants.

"Despite the challenges that we may have faced, the Lord has sustained us and brought us safely into this new season of hope and renewal. This New Year presents us with fresh opportunities to strengthen unity, serve one another with compassion, and work together for the development and prosperity of our region. As your governor, I reaffirm my commitment to leading with integrity, humility, and dedication. Always placing your well-being first."

The governor further urged the residents to stand united in the fight against social ills such as gender-based violence and drug abuse.

"Our firm stance of no bail for all drug-related incidents is not against flesh and blood or against each other as residents of this region. But it is against the impact and effects it has on the lives of our residents. Let us move forward in faith, guided by God's wisdom and inspired by his promise that with Him all things are possible."

He expressed hope that the year would be filled with peace, progress and caring for one another.

"For every family and community, love and serve each other with one heart and one mind with the love of God. May God bless you, and may He bless our region, and may He bless our nation. Happy New Year, and may the Lord work with us throughout the year ahead."

McNab also thanked President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah for entrusting him with serving the inhabitants of the region.

In addition, he expressed gratitude to his staff, residents and Swapo Party leadership for their support.
