Russia's Ambassador to Namibia, Dmitry Lobach, visited the Venezuelan Embassy today to sign a book of condolences honouring Venezuelans and Cubans killed in the January 3 attack and kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores. book of condolences

Close to 100 people, including 32 Cubans, died during the US operation to seize Maduro.

The Venezuelan Embassy opened the book to honour those killed in the military attack.

At the diplomatic mission on Klein Windhoek's Nelson Mandela Avenue, Lobach expressed solidarity with Venezuela and Cuba in the presence of Venezuelan Ambassador Dr. Magaly Henriquez.

The Russian diplomat praised Cuba's over 60 years of resistance against the United States: "Cuba has lived under these circumstances for the past 60 years and managed to survive, which is a good example for all of us to be strong."

The book of condolences remains open until Wednesday, January 14, and is available for signing from 10:00 to 12:00 and 14:00 to 16:00.
