The Namibian police and the Directorate of Forestry in the Zambezi Region have confiscated illegally harvested timber valued at over N$5,000.
Fifty-three timber planks were recovered during the interception, with Chief Inspector Charles Mayumbelo confirming that no arrests were made as the suspects fled the scene.
A small plastic bag containing what is suspected to be marijuana and two sets of makeshift blades believed to have been used to cut down the trees were also found and confiscated at the scene.
The interception comes a week after over seventy timber logs were seized after being smuggled into the country from Zambia through an ungazetted entry point.
